The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the leading publisher of the World University Rankings, has recently released the QS India University Rankings 2020. As expected, IITs continue to dominate the rankings table. IIT Bombay retained its crown as the best institute in the country with an overall score of 88.5. IISc also successfully defended its second position in the rankings. IIT Delhi and the University of Hyderabad stepped higher. This year, QS increased the total number of universities in the rankings. Compared to last year, QS increased the list with another 25 institutions making it a total of 100 institutions. Most of the universities in the top 20 relatively static except IIT Bhubaneswar, which made it into the group.
The QS used the methodology of the BRICS Rankings to prepare India Rankings. A total of eight indicators were used to create the India rankings – Academic reputation (30%), Employer reputation (20%), Faculty/student ratio (20%), Staff with a PhD (10%), Papers per faculty (10%), Citations per paper (5%), International faculty (2.5%) and International students (2.5%).
